NabiJapan

Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2025

1. Introduction

NabiJapan helps you understand Japanese text (e.g. notices and letters) and view local garbage and recycling schedules. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

2. Data we collect

Account: Email address when you sign up (via Supabase Auth).

Location: Your chosen address (prefecture, city, etc.) to show correct garbage schedules. Stored in our database and used only for your profile and schedule display.

Photos and scans: When you scan or attach an image, we may upload it to our servers to provide AI-powered explanation. Images are processed to understand Japanese text and are not used for advertising or shared with third parties for marketing.

Subscription: If you subscribe to NabiJapan Pro, purchase and subscription status are handled by RevenueCat and the app store; we do not store your payment card details.

Preferences: Language, theme, reminder time, and notification settings are stored so the app works as you prefer.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to: provide scan and explanation features; show garbage schedules for your area; send reminder notifications if you enable them; manage your account and subscription; and improve the app. We do not sell your personal data.

4. AI and image processing

Images you scan or attach are sent to our backend and processed using AI to read and explain Japanese text. The processing is done to serve your request only. We do not use your images to train general-purpose AI models. You can avoid sending images by not using the scan or “chat with image” features.

5. Third-party services

We use Supabase (auth, database, storage, and edge functions), RevenueCat (subscriptions), and app store billing. Their privacy policies apply to data they process. Notifications use your device’s notification system.

6. Your rights

You can update or delete your profile and location in the app. To delete your account and associated data, use the account deletion option in the app or contact us. You may have additional rights under your local laws (e.g. access, correction, deletion, portability).

7. Contact

For privacy-related questions or requests, contact us through the app’s support or the contact details provided in the app listing. You can also use the Support page.
